SpeightstownLocated in the parish of Saint Peter, Speightstown is the 2nd largest town on the island of Barbados. The town dates back to the earliest days of British settlement, around 1630, and is named after a local landowner, William Speight. During this period, the town was the island's busiest port, and ships regularly left the harbor, carrying cargoes of sugar bound for Bristol in the United Kingdom - it is from this history that the town gets its nickname of "Little Bristol".
